Thabo Sindisa Kwinana

Graduated from Rhodes University with a LLB degree in 1992. He holds a B. Juris degree from the University of Transkei. He is also an experienced conveyancer and a notary public. He is a founding partner of the then premier black commercial firm Chuene Kwinana Motsatse Inc (“CKM”). Thabo’s career was shaped up from his initial training.

Whilst a LLB intermediary student at Rhodes University, he applied for a winter vacation programme sponsored by the famous USA Yale University’s Law School. Black final year LLB students were placed in various big white law firms in South Africa to expose them to such firms and possibly their retention for articles of clerkship.

Thabo was placed at Moss-Morris Mendelow Browdie Attorneys who later offered him articles of clerkship. He was trained in a commercial law firm hence he is experienced and skilled in almost all facets of commercial practice. Thabo headed the property and mining division whilst at CKM which he co-founded after a 2 (two) year stints in-house legal counsel at BHP Billiton.

He was involved in township development projects, establishment of sectional title schemes, conducting due diligence on mergers and acquisitions, reconstruction of mining law and general commercial transactions. He has serviced PIC, BHP Billiton, Telkom, Rand Water, Eskom, Standard Bank, Meeg Bank, First Rand, Eyesizwe Coal Mining and the Economic Freedom Fighters (“EFF”), South Africa’s new kid on the block, young and dynamic political party. Thabo was part of the team advising Government on the restructuring of its diamond mining company, Alexkor Limited.

He was also involved in the Egoli 2002 and helped bring to life the Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market, Johannesburg Zoo and the Metrobus and continued to service the said clients for a number of years. His strength is interpersonal skills with both staff members and colleagues. He has served in various Boards including those of listed companies. Throughout his 21 years of practice, he has developed and is now a solid and experienced commercial litigator. He is also responsible for practice management within the firm.

Zintle Nkuhlu

Holds a B.Juris and LLB degrees from the University of Western Cape. She served her articles of clerkship at Matlala Inc in Pretoria. Thereafter she was employed as an attorney at CKM between June 2000 to December 2002.

In January 2005 Zintle co-founded on all women commercial and corporate law firm Mdlulwa Nkuhlu Inc Attorneys where she was the Head of Commercial Division. She left the partnership in December 2009 to join Emgazini Resources as a Legal Advisor and Company Secretary as from January 2008 to December 2009. From February 2010 Zintle co-established Ntanga Nkuhlu Inc law firm, also a corporate and commercial law firm. From there she joined the initiative for the establishment of the biggest black law firm in the form of KMNS as a director in the Commercial Department.

Her areas of practice are company secretarial services, heading up specialised due diligence programmes from planning, data room and documentation management, financial reports and implementation of agreed remedial actions and/or steps, drafting commercial agreements, mergers and acquisitions and all aspects of a commercial practice including regulatory compliance.

Andries Kgatlampi Nkome

Andries is a practising commercial and mining lawyer based in Pretoria. Andries holds a B Broc degree from Unisa, Certificate in Commercial Law Practice, Certificate in Commercial Law from Irish Law Society, Certificate in Competition Law from University of Pretoria and Certificate in Prospecting and Mining Law from the University of Witwatersrand.

Andries’ legal firm Nkome Incorporated has been involved in various big events within South Africa, eg, representing the families and dependents of the miners who lost their lives during the Marikana massacre before the Marikana Commission of Inquiry and the current Classeen Board of Inquiry into the suitability of the SAPS National Commissioner to hold her position.

Also the firm is instituting a landmark class action against SABMiller arising out of the owner driver “BEE” scheme. Andries has represented organized labour in mine fatality inquiries and has developed expertise in this field. Andries’ strength is his people skills and he brings this skill with him to KMNS Inc as we navigate through industrial action prevention negotiations and social facilitation projects.

Aviwe Yakopi

Aviwe Yakopi

Aviwe’s main focus is in litigation and dispute resolution, Aviwe is an Associate at the firm who is motivated by success and therefore strives to satisfy the needs of every client to the best of his ability.

 Aviwe is an admitted attorney of the High Court and obtained his LL.B degree in 2016 at the University of Fort Hare (East London).

He completed his articles in 2018 where after he was enrolled as an Attorney. Aviwe joined KMNS Inc on 1 February 2019. Originally from the Eastern Cape in Mthahta, but schooled in Port Elizabeth, for Aviwe the quality of work and strong work ethic is what matters most and with an understanding of the modern-day business world and that it demands attorneys that can carefully navigate its complexities, Aviwe approaches each transaction with a problem solving mentality, scrutinising every angle in order to identify innovative solutions. Out of the office he is a sports car enthusiast, enjoys the outdoors and is an avid traveller. Eric Thumbumzi Mabuza

Holds a B. Proc degree from the University of North and a LLB from Wits University. He has over 20 years of legal practice experience. Eric is the founding and managing partner of corporate and commercial practice Mabuza Attorneys which he established in 2003.

His practice areas include constitutional and administrative competition law, labour Law, energy law, general commercial and corporate law. Eric has serviced a variety of clients in the public and private sectors in the abovementioned practice areas. He has also been involved in some of the calibrated cases in South Africa one of which was the successful reinstatement of radio and television celebrity Mr Gareth Cliff to the popular music reality shows Idols.

Also, he was the instructing attorney in the secret ballet case between UDM vs Speaker of parliament and President Zuma which resulted in the holding of a secret ballot in the vote of no confidence against President Zuma. Also, Eric is the instructing attorney for the UDM in the impeachment case brought by the EFF and others vs speaker of parliament and President Zuma in respect of which the constituti3xonal court has reserved judgement. It is this wealth of experience that Eric brings across to KMNS.

Mfana Victor Gwala

A seasoned and experienced community builder and a general commercial attorney, who holds a B. Proc degree from Unisa, a Certificate in Labour Conflict Management from IMSSA and a further Certificate in Community Conflict Resolution from IMSSA.

Mfana has worked and/or associated with a number of South African institutions, viz: UNISA as an Administration Officer, Electoral Institute of Southern Africa as an Electoral Resources Co-ordinator, Mchunu Mashinini and Associates (“MMA”) as a consultant, Khalvest as a director up to August 2012. Mfana then incorporated and practised as an attorney under the name and style as MV Gwala & Associates, which has been merged in the establishment of KMNS.

His community involvement includes being a Commissioner: Small Claims Court, Pretoria Magistrate’s Court, Meadowlands Self-Help Project initiated and sponsored by Johannesburg Consolidated Investments (“JSC”) and a member of the Meadowlands Dispute Resolution Committee, a structure of the National Peace Committee. Mfana’s practice areas are alternative dispute resolution, labour practice, litigation and general commercial legal work.

Fortune Mary Gugu Legoabe

She the holder of a B.Juris degree from Vista University, LLB from University of Durban Westville, Executive Development Program and Certificate in Telecommunications Policy, Regulation and Management from Unisa School of Business Leadership.

She is an experienced attorney and businesswoman whose career commenced when she did her articles of clerkship at the renowned intellectual property firm Adams & Adams. She was then employed as in-house legal counsel at Telkom where she rose to the position of Senior Legal Advisor and Acting Executive: Group Legal Services.

Thereafter she joined Transnet Freight Retail as Senior Legal Advisor and later Group Legal Counsel and Acting Group Company Secretary at Denel (SOC) Limited. Fortune has had stints at Transtel as a Senior Legal Advisor, Peeble Bed Modular Reactor (Pty) Ltd as Senior Legal Advisor and Acting General Manager and Acting Company Secretary. Her last corporate position was a Group Manager: Legal & Contracts at Liquid Telecommunications South Africa from where she joined KMNS as a Director heading the Commercial Department with emphasis on corporate and general commercial law, intellectual property as well as commercial litigation.

Babatunde Badimele Adekeye

He is a consultant in the firm’s commercial department specialising in general commercial and aviation laws. The well-travelled Tunde holds a LLB and LLM from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Nigeria. He holds a HDip Tax Law from University of Johannesburg.


Over and above his admission as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa,Tunde is also admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. From 1989 to 1996 he practised as a commercial lawyer in Nigeria.

He was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 1998 and 1999 he was employed as an associate and was promoted to an associate director at CKM. In 2001 he co-founded the firm Mkhabela Huntley Adekeye Inc and was with the firm until 2015. Tunde has extensive experience in various aspects of the commercial law practice including corporate and project finance, restructuring of government enterprises, energy, mining, oil and gas law and cross-border transactions. It is his previous association with CKM that has laid the foundation of Tunde joining KMNS as a consultant.

Nelson Khathutshelo Mathibe

Holds a LLB degree from University of Limpompo (Turfloop Campus). Nelson is an associate at KMNS having been “inherited” from Nkome Inc during the merger where he was employed as a candidate attorney and on completion and based on his diligent performance, he has since been promoted to Professional Assistant and later associate, the position he still holds.

Nelson is experienced in litigation from criminal litigation in both magistrate and high court, civil litigation, commercial law, labour law, matrimonial law, deceased estate, contract law, competition law, insolvency, business rescue and debt recovery, property law, trusts, wills, dispute resolution, etc. He is an avid soccer, politics and reading enthusiast. With young lawyers like Nelson, the future of the firm through passing of the baton from old guard to the youth will be smooth.

Keabetswe Nkunzana

Keabetswe joined KMNS Attorneys as a candidate attorney on 1 March 2018. She studied Bachelor of Arts majoring in Law from 2012 to 2014 and Bachelor of Laws from 2016 to 2017 both at the University of the Witwatersrand.  In 2014, Keabetswe developed an interest in corporate and commercial law which resulted in her pursuing the Bachelor of Laws qualification.  At KMNS Attorneys she was exposed to the vibrant labour law sector which she equally enjoy.


Irene Maine

Irene joined KMNS Attorneys as a candidate attorney in March 2018. She studied Bachelor of Laws at the University of South Africa (UNISA). Since high school she has always had interest in commercial law and fortunately KMNS has exposed her to different fields of law such as conveyancing, labour law and criminal law. Irene aspires to become a commercial attorney and run her own commercial firm.    


Jo-Anne Galstone

Jo-Anne Galstone a Candidate Attorney at KMNS Inc. This young professional holds an LLB degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA). With Electives such as: Banking Law, Conveyancing, Notarial Practice, Company Law as well as Law of Intellectual Property and Competition. Jo-Anne was previously employed as a Legal Administrator for five years, where she was mainly responsible for the Administration and or Liquidation of Divorce Estates as well as Deceased Estates.  She has a keen eye for detail and is focused on learning and growing while delivering excellent professional client services.


Xolani Mkhwanazi

Experienced as young in business corporate and candidate attorney, who holds various Qualifications being a 3 years National Diploma in Marketing Management from Damelin College, a Bachelor of Commerce in Law, Certificate in Relationship Management both from UNISA. He is in process of finishing the other two Qualifications, LLB and Diploma in Compliance from UNISA, after been exempted from his previous Qualifications.

Xolani worked for one of the biggest global soft drink Company (Coca Cola Company), holding various positions and later he opened a logistic business and he was contracted to SABMiller. He employed 19 people and also managed them at the same time.

Xolani is passionate about Commercial / Transactional Law.


Busisiwe Sibiya

Busi Sibiya joined KMNS Attorneys on the 1st of February 2019 as a candidate attorney. She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws at the University of the Johannesburg in 2016 and more recently graduated with distinctions in a Higher Certificate in Management and Development that included modules such as Financial Management, Project Management and Strategic Management. I have a great passion for Commercial and Business Enterprise Law. Busi has greats hopes of growing and learning within the firm.
